This is a handmade 4 inch disk, designed to work with Chenille yarn.

I took two pieces of Fun Foam stuck them together around a card stock core.  Then I cut into circle, punched center hole and the notches.  Notches are designed to not pull the fibers of the Chenille Yarn.  It is not intended for any heavy braids.
